Nairobi.

In a remarkable display of commitment to excellence, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) recently celebrated the graduation of 1,405 accomplished staff members, marking the successful completion of an intensive two-month training program in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). The ceremony, held with great enthusiasm on a bright Friday morning, August 25, was graced by the presence of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who expressed his unwavering confidence in the newly minted Revenue Service Assistants (RSAs).

These diligent RSAs underwent rigorous training at the prestigious Recruits Training College in Eldoret, emerging as well-equipped assets to fortify KRA’s endeavors to amplify tax collection across the nation. As KRA stands at the forefront as the National Revenue Collection Agency, its pivotal role as a globally trusted revenue agency hinges upon fostering tax and customs compliance.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, in his address, emphasized the significance of nurturing professionalism among KRA’s tax officers to meet their esteemed global stature. “To uphold this call, it is imperative for KRA to give paramount importance to professionalism among its tax officers. A critical facet of upholding integrity in tax mobilization involves the meticulous training of tax administration officers,” stated Mudavadi, who commended the RSAs for their exemplary performance.

He fervently encouraged these graduates to leverage their newfound skills to bolster the government’s transformation agenda, specifically through the art of revenue collection. The RSAs, armed with their fresh knowledge and expertise acquired during the intensive two-month training period, are now poised to execute their mandate with unparalleled proficiency and unwavering dedication, as highlighted by KRA.

KRA has meticulously outlined the pivotal role these Revenue Service Assistants will play in the intricate process of sorting, logging, and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence between the authority and the taxpayers within the nation. Their acquired skills are primed to streamline these critical tasks with unparalleled efficiency and precision.

Central to KRA’s mission is the enhancement of tax compliance and the expansion of the tax base through innovative strategies and vigorous enforcement. The specific duties assigned to RSAs will be tailored to the size and complexity of each task, ensuring the revenue service’s ability to collect taxes both efficiently and effectively.

Beyond the realm of taxation, the comprehensive training program conducted by the Kenya Defence Forces also equipped these officials to respond adeptly to various challenges and threats that may arise in the course of their duties, including security concerns.

The RSA opportunities, which were unveiled on Tuesday, May 9, attracted a pool of applicants who met specific qualifications, including possessing a minimum of a D+ (plus) grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and falling within the age bracket of 18 to 35 years. Successful applicants are poised to enjoy competitive gross salaries, with the potential to earn up to Ksh53,500, reinforcing the attractiveness of these roles within the KRA.

The graduation of these 1,405 RSAs signifies a significant step forward for the Kenya Revenue Authority in its relentless pursuit of excellence in tax collection and administration. With their newfound knowledge, skills, and dedication, these graduates are set to play a pivotal role in shaping the fiscal landscape of Kenya in the upcoming financial year 2023/2024.
